The tour is ADA accessible; please let us know that you are bringing a wheelchair or walker. We cannot accommodate MOTORIZED assistive devices (wheelchairs, scooters, etc). Other Special Arrangements should be made at least 2 weeks prior to your tour date and time, particularly for assistive devices for hearing and sight impairments. Olivo “Leo” Silvio Carraro ~ It’s Your 106th Birthday! Thanks for all you did to make Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights a dream come true! You were just a boy when you started building the Castle with your dad, but worked harder than the rest of the men. But, you didn’t stop at the Castle. You made our Community a better place! Thank you! Tovrea Carraro Society

The Historic Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights will be open for several very special evening tours on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. You will experience the Castle as never before, bathed in the glow of the Spring’s Super Moon. Tovrea Carraro Society’s Certified Volunteers will take you on a historic adventure exploring Tovrea Castle at night.
This special tour of the first floor and basement gives you an idea of what life was like in the evening hours at the Castle. The abbreviated tour includes a drive around the grounds, without stops or commentary, arriving directly at the Castle steps and features light refreshments on the East Patio, where Della Tovrea once entertained her guests.
Spend time viewing the Super Moon on the same Patio where the elite of Phoenix engaged in conversation. THIS IS SPECIAL ONLY TO THIS TOUR – regular tours do not include the patio or refreshments.
The tour is ADA accessible; please let us know that you are bringing a wheelchair or walker. We cannot accommodate MOTORIZED assistive devices (wheelchairs, scooters, etc). On April 4, Arizonans can support their favorite nonprofit for 24 hours of virtual giving.
Tovrea Carraro Society is committed to provide a unique experience for visitors along with preserving, maintaining and restoring its historic structures, gardens and grounds.
Operating a Castle in the Desert is a dream come true, but an expensive dream, at that.
Hey, we’re not complaining; it is a pleasure to work on such an iconic structure. But, it takes extra dollars. As an all-volunteer organization, all monies raised through tours, events and donations go directly toward special restoration projects and daily operations, repairs and maintenance.
You can help us continue to keep this treasure in great shape by donating to Tovrea Carraro Society, where you can be sure that your contribution goes back into ‘our’ Castle in the Desert – keeping it open to the public for years to come.
