Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As of April 13, 2020, due to health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, all tours and special events at Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights have been canceled through August 14, 2020. 

Refunds for all guests with tickets for the Full Flower Super Moon Tours on May 6 have been requested; no exchanges were available.  

Guests with Summer Twilight Tour Tickets had the option of an exchange (through May 8, 2020, 3 pm Arizona Time) or a full refund.  All requests for refunds and Fall Twilight Tour exchanges have been made.

Guests with Regular Tour Tickets had the option of an exchange (through April 10, 2020, 11 pm Arizona Time) or a full refund.  All requests for refunds and fall tour exchanges have been made.


Tovrea Carraro Society (TCS) will continue to determine how services will be provided in a manner that is safe for the Guests, the Public (i.e. anyone that is onsite, including vendors) and Staff and Volunteers because the health and well-being of our community is of the utmost importance to TCS and its Leadership.

The following guidelines and directives establish Community standards, provide detailed responsibilities and actions.  The TCS Leadership is responsible for ensuring that all directives are being following in all areas at Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights.  Compliance with the directives is required for continued volunteerism and the health and safety of other Staff and Volunteers, Guests and the Public, as well as our Partners.

We are all in this together and our actions not only affect personal health, but the health of others, including stopping the spread of infection to those most vulnerable. Creating and maintaining a safe and effective space is the responsibility of everyone with TCS.

PHASE 2 – COVID DECLINING   |   MAY 12, 2020

During Phase 2 the directives will continue to be updated.  TCS will continue to monitor the transition back to regular business in order to guide decisions to remove restrictions. The most common and effective preventive lifestyle practices will remain in place.  Onsite trainings, meetings and other gatherings are closed through August 14; Tours and Events are closed until September 18, 2020.  Special maintenance and repair projects are ongoing with less than 10 persons onsite at any one time, all social distancing at 6 feet or beyond when possible and all wearing face masks.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DIRECTIVES

Precautions to slow or prevent the spread of the virus among persons are continuing:

  • Ill persons should stay home
  • Soap with sanitizer is available in all areas where handwashing occurs
  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizer (minimum 60% alcohol) is available in the restrooms and public areas for use after hand washing
  • Increased diligence when cleaning all areas including but not limited to restrooms, and public areas
  • Disinfectant wipes or spray on all hard surfaces, including door handles is being used. (Spray is:  one-part household bleach to ten parts water (make fresh solution for the day of use)
  • All water fountains are turned off and marked “do not use”
  • Smiles are encouraged, but NO hugs, handshakes or touching
  • Signs are posted reminding people to wash their hands with soap and water frequently

ALL STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING: 

  • Do a self-check using the self-screening tool each day before coming on property (see below)
  • No physical contact with others
  • Maintain the “6 ft. rule” at all times
  • Minimize in person meetings (less than 10 attendees maintaining physical distancing is allowable)
  •  Masks:
    • All Staff and Volunteers will wear masks when on property when there are 2 or more, including yourself, present
    • Wear masks when there are 2 or more in a vehicle
    • All Guests and Public must wear masks at all times when on property and 2 or more are present
    • Cloth made masks must be washed weekly, more frequently is strongly suggested

Self-screening Tool

Each day before deciding to come on property, Staff and Volunteers will conduct a self-screening using the tool below. This tool will help Staff and Volunteers decide if it is appropriate to volunteer.  If there is an answer of “yes” to any of these questions, stay home and contact the onsite Coordinator, as soon as possible.  Coordinators who show indicators that they should not volunteer will contact the President, as soon as possible.

Do I have any flu-like symptoms? (Fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath)
Have I been exposed to anyone who has flu-like symptoms?
