Events at the Castle

tcpicThank you for considering Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights as the location for your special event!

Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights is truly a unique venue for private and public events, whether it be a social affair, business meeting or community fundraiser.  All events are far more memorable at Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights with its unique location and history.

Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights is one of the official Phoenix Points of Pride, an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built to be a Boutique Hotel with home sites by Alessio Carraro in 1928, instead became a home to E.A. and Della Tovrea in 1931 and purchased by the City of Phoenix through a series of Bond Elections in the 1990s.

Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights’ 44 acres is an urban desert oasis with the Castle as centerpiece to its surrounding Cactus Gardens and Outbuildings.

This rugged site is great for events with a lot of imagination:  no modern restrooms or running water is available; generators are necessary for electricity.  For the creative planner, your event can be one-of-a-kind.  All events are held outdoors; tours of the Castle are available as part of the event, but no events are held inside this historic building.

Due to the nature of the event spaces, Weddings are not held at the Castle.

If your event is to be smaller and more intimate, you may prefer the setting of the East Patio in the shade of the Castle above. The Paseo Roundabout gives you more space, with a distant view of the Castle and grounds.  Larger receptions and parties can utilize the North and South Platforms with amazing views of the Castle and its tiered and sculptured grounds.  Cocktail receptions for a small number are wonderfully held on the Paseo with easy access to the Visitor Center and parking areas.

We can provide a list of professional event vendors who are available to help plan and implement your special event. We have preferred caterers and rental companies who are familiar with the intricacies of this site, or with prior approval, you may use your own trusted sources.
